Carpano

The history of the Italian brand Carpano dates back to 1786 in Turin. Antonio Benedetto Carpano introduced a new recipe for vermouth after receiving his title of botanist. It was a mixture of herbs and spices, seasoned with nutmeg. Some time later, Antonio opened his shop in front of the Royal Palace. He presented a box of Vermouth to King Vittorio Amedeo III, who loved it so much that he ordered it to be one of the main drinks of the court, and the Carpano shop was one of the best attractions in the city. In 1820 Antonio's nephew Bernardo Carpano expanded the store and founded Carpano company. And in 1840-1888 a glass of vermouth was the favorite aperitif of the people of Turin. In 1898 The Luigi and Ottavio brothers founded a distillery. However, after World War II, the business was sold to the large industrialist Silvio Turati, who continued to develop it. In 2001, the brand was acquired by Fratelli Branca in Milan. The company's founder Bernardino Branca, continues the innovative path, remaining faithful to the traditions and values of the past. Today, Carpano is a popular and famous brand not only in Italy but all over the world, and vermouth is an indispensable ingredient for all cocktails.
