The grapes were harvested from the best areas of Cognac appellation. Half of the raw materials come from the regions of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, the rest from Fins Bois and Bons Bois.

In 1791 young Thomas Hine left Dorset (England) in search of fortune in France. He chose Cognac region, perhaps because his family, who lived on the coast, was engaged in the sale of cognac. The young man was unlucky: during the French Revolution, Thomas was arrested for espionage and imprisoned in a castle in Jarnac, but he soon freed himself and married Francoise Elisabeth, whose father had his own cognac company in Jarnac. Very soon, the father-in-law's business turned into his own career and passion. Thomas quickly became a well-known and respected expert. Over the years, he took the art of cognac making to new heights, continuing to develop the business, which in 1822 was named Thomas Hine & Co. Thomas Hine left a more than thriving business.
