Liqueur has transparent emerald color. The aroma is expressed with subtle notes of banana. In refreshing taste the pleasant hints of ripe banana and pear are noticeable.

Liqueur can be drunk neat, with ice or used in cocktails.

Founded in 1948 based on an original Indonesian recipe, Pisang Ambon is thé banana liqueur. In eraly 2021, Bols released a new recipe for Pisang Ambon liqueur, which has more  natural, more intense and more complex banana flavour and an upgrade in packaging. The new recipe is made with natural banana flavour (instead of the previous artificial banana flavour) combining 3 different banana flavour profiles, to enrich the real banana taste.

In the name of Pisang Ambon ''Pisang'' means banana and ''Ambon'' Island is part of the Maluku Islands of Indonesia where one of the key crops are bananas, Hence, the name of this liqueur is said to refer to ''banana island''.

The history of ''Lucas Bols'' company began in 1575, when the Bols family arrived in Amsterdam and founded a winery, which was originally called het Lootsje, where they would distill liqueurs and also genevers from 1664 onwards.
