Canadian Club

In 1858 Hiram Walker: founder of the Canadian Club, built his own factory on the Detroit River bank of the US border. Whisky quickly gained popularity in both Canada and the United States. But in the 1920s, the business of Walker and other whisky distillers was hit hard when a new bill in the US Constitution went into effect that would strictly ban the importation of alcoholic beverages into the United States. During Prohibition, the Canadian Club became the most popular smuggled whisky imported into the United States.
