The wine has very deep color, ruby ​​red with purplish reflections. The nose is spicy, with red berries and delicate aromas of wood. This tannic and massive wine has aromas of blackcurrant and vanilla buds. The finish is liquorice and spicy. This wine is the example of a racy wine which knows how to remain seductive. 

Pairs well with lamb, generally with red meats and cheese.

Manual harvesting and sorting of the grapes, then regular punching down and control of fermentation temperatures in closed stainless steel vats for nearly 3 weeks.

The wine is aged for around 36 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

Illustrious plots of the Hermitage appellation with limestone clay-loam and sandy-gravelly soils. Average age of vines is 30 years.

Etienne Guigal founded his winery in 1946, in the old village Ampyui, which is known around the world today. Etienne's son,  Marcel Guigal, began to help his father and work at the winery at a fairly young age, eventually succeeding his older, suddenly blinded father. Marseille invested in the family business not only all his strength, but also his soul. Today, the tradition of the family winemaking is continued by Marseille son Philip Gigal, who holds the position of chief enologist in the company. Guigal owns the oldest vineyards in France, dating back over 2,400 years.  Read more
