Wine is golden with bright amber hues. The intense aroma is expressed with fruity notes of apricot and orange. In the pleasant taste the aromatic herbal nuances are combined with sweet hints of honey. Due to the balance of freshness and sweetness, this wine is considered one of the best and most recognized dessert wines in the world.
Pairs well with caramelized duck, foie gras and blue cheeses. The wine is also perfect with pastries and gourmet chocolate.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. During maceration, dried grapes acquire their unique sweetness, freshness and distinctive aroma.
Aging for 8 months in French oak barrels and then at least 12 months in bottle before release
Ben Ryé is one of the most appreciated sweet Italian wines in the world. A fine sweet wine produced in Pantelleria, small island between Sicily and northern Africa, known as the “Black Pearl of the Mediterranean”.
From Italian language, the name of Donnafugata is translated as " fleeing woman". There is a legend about the escape of Queen Maria Carolina, who fled from Naples and found her refuge in a town in the very center of Santa Margherita Belice valley: the same palace under the starry sky. Also due to this event, many labels depict the head of a woman with hair blowing in the wind. Donnafugata was established in Sicily by a family that, thanks to its passion, has been able to innovate the style and perception of Sicilian wine throughout the world. Giacomo Rallo, the fourth generation of a family with over 170 years of experience in quality wine, founded Donnafugata in 1983 together with his wife Gabriella, a pioneer of viticulture in Sicily. Today, their children José and Antonio lead the company and a team of people focused on excellence. Read more
