The wine is golden straw color. The rich aroma reveals floral nuances, juicy tropical fruits with slightly spicy and woody notes. Luxurious, elegant, rounded on the palate with excellent structure, excellent acidity, and unique fruity aftertaste.
This wine goes well with vegetable soups, roasted bream and salmon, caviar, risotto, and soft cheeses.
Fermentation lasts 30 days in new French oak barrels with regular batonnage. Most of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.
50% of wine is aged in new French oak barriques for about 10 months and 50% is aged in barrels that have only been used once. Further aging for 4 months in a bottle.
The grapes for this wine are harvested from a separate "Beneficio" vineyard, located in the Pomino DOC area in the commune of Rufina. Initially, this appellation, formed in 1983, included only land owned by the Frescobaldi family. Beneficio has an area of 9 hectares and is located at an altitude of 680-730 meters above sea level․The exposition is southwest. It is one of the few vineyards in Tuscany located at an altitude of over 500 m and one of the first to have Chardonnay vines.Three different clones of this variety are cultivated here. The average age of the vines is about 14 years. The vines are planted on clay-sandy, rather acidic soils․
Pomino Castle was built in the 16th century by the design of the Florentine architect Gerardo Silvani. Cosimo III Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, in 1716 included the wines of the castle in the list of the best wines of the region. Castello di Pomino is one of the most advanced wineries of Frescobaldi. Here, for the first time in Tuscany, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco vines were planted, and Pomino Benefizio, released in 1973, became the first white wine in Italy, aged in oak barrels.
The Frescobaldi family is one of the oldest and most prestigious winemaking nobles in Italy. The Frescobaldis originally come from Florence and are currently based in Italy’s №1 winemaking region: Tuscany. Here they own 7 estates, which allows to fully explore all the Tuscan terroirs.
