The Corralejo distillery was founded in 1755 by Miguel Hidalgo, who is known as the creator of the unique agave distillation method. He was the first Mexican entrepreneur to lay the commercial foundation for the production of tequila. The current owners of the company continue the centuries-old tradition. In 2000, Corralejo revolutionized tequila production by using the triple distillation method. Corralejo tequila is exclusively made with 100% Blue Weber agave, hand-harvested from the fields in the state of Guanajuato. Corralejo employs the 400-year-old Charentais method of distillation, the same method perfected by the French in distilling Cognac, which uniquely allows for exceptional retention of aroma and flavor.
