With a bright straw yellow color, La Fuga 2022 offers a fragrant bouquet with notes of tropical fruit and citrus zest (lemon) together with delicate hints of white flowers. On the palate, it is savory and fresh thanks to a pleasant acidic finish.

Ageing in tanks, on its noble lees, for five months and at least three months in bottle before being released to the market.

In the heart of western Sicily - among the hills of Contessa Entellina, between 200 and 500 m a.s.l. - lie the vineyards Donnafugata comes from. The climate is Mediterranean, with rain concentrated during the autumn and winter months, dry and breezy summers, with a great range of air temperature variations between day and night. The soils are predominantly medium-clayey, but vary according to the peculiarities of the individual districts.

Gabriella Anca Rallo (founder of Donnafugata, with her husband Giacomo) thought of “fleeing” and beginning a new life, passing from the arts to the land. Gabriella is a woman with the wind in her hair who is never at rest. Gabriella invented La Fuga, a label that not only suggests movement but also sunshine and the land.

From Italian language, the name of Donnafugata is translated as " fleeing woman". There is a legend about the escape of Queen Maria Carolina, who fled from Naples and found her refuge in a town in the very center of Santa Margherita Belice valley: the same palace under the starry sky. A woman's hair swaying in the wind can also be seen on product labels.Donnafugata was established in Sicily by a family that, thanks to its passion, has been able to innovate the style and perception of Sicilian wine throughout the world. Giacomo Rallo, the fourth generation of a family with over 170 years of experience in quality wine, founded Donnafugata in 1983 together with his wife Gabriella, a pioneer of viticulture in Sicily. Today, their children José and Antonio lead the company and a team of people focused on excellence.
