Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC)
A deep and very pure salmon pink colored wine has elegant floral and fruity notes. It’s fruity and well structured with aromatic finesse on the palate. There is a harmony between a pleasant low acidity and a fleshy fruit, as well as a charming roundness.
Appreciated as a starter but also with fish, cold cuts, grilled meats.
It is a wine made from bleeding for which the skin maceration lasts about one night. The alcoholic fermentation temperatures are then controlled around 18°C.
This wine is aged for around 6 months in stainless steel vats.
French kings Louis XIV and Philip IV the Handsome, the famous writers Honore de Balzac and Ernest Hemingway were among the admirers of this wine.
Clay soils and pebbles. Average age of vines is 25 years.
Etienne Guigal founded his winery in 1946, in the old village Ampyui, which is known around the world today. Etienne's son, Marcel Guigal, began to help his father and work at the winery at a fairly young age, eventually succeeding his older, suddenly blinded father. Marseille invested in the family business not only all his strength, but also his soul. Today, the tradition of the family winemaking is continued by Marseille son Philip Gigal, who holds the position of chief enologist in the company. Guigal owns the oldest vineyards in France, dating back over 2,400 years.
