Amber colour whiskey has a quite sweet aroma with gentle notes of vanilla and cut hay, a touch of fresh corn fields and a little cereal sweetness. Good body with notes of toasty oak and all the requisite notes of vanilla and crème anglaise, a little spice and pepper on the palate. The finish is sweet with a note of toasted oak.

A classic digestif, whiskey is great on its own, as well as in combination with ice or water.

The Jim Beam White Bourbon is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon. In order to be “straight” it needs to be produced in the United States of America, more than the half of the used grains needs to be maize, the alcohol content of the new make (the spirit right after the distillation) cannot be higher than 80 % and when it enters the casks not higher than 62.5 %, it has to mature for at least two years in new, charred oak casks, it must be free of additives like for example colouring and it must be bottled with at least 40 % alcohol. This is how a bourbon becomes a straight bourbon. But for the team of Jim Beam this is not enough. To produce an extraordinary straight bourbon the minimum maturation period is doubled, so that the whiskey spends four years in new casks. Those casks are made of American white oak and were treated with fire. The charring opens the structure of the wood and gives a caramel flavour to bourbon.

The Jim Beam Original is also known as the White Label, and it continues to be their oldest and most popular drink around the world. The whiskey was assigned the name Jim Beam after 1933, in honour of James Beam, who reinvigorated the family business after Prohibition ended. Earlier, the brand’s whiskey was known as Old Jake Beam, named after founder Johannes ‘Jacob’ Beam.
