Saint James Quintessence is a vintage rum created to celebrate the 240th anniversary of Cuvée. This unique rum is based on long-term aging of sugar cane juice.
The history of the famous brand St. James was born in St. Pierre de Martinique in 1765 thanks to the tutor of the monastery, Edmond Lefebru. In the greatest secret, he developed a unique recipe for a high quality alcoholic drink. In 1902, disaster struck the island: a volcanic eruption destroyed the city of Saint-Pierre and partially destroyed the monastery. Rum St. James found a new life thanks to Pauline Lambert, a Marseille merchant who bought several distilleries in Martinique in the late 19th century. He made revolutionary changes in technology and design. Rum began to be poured into square bottles, which were less broken during transportation on ships. The plant itself has been upgraded with the latest innovative technologies. The high quality of "Saint James" products has allowed it to gain a high reputation, take a leading position among the brands of the company "La Martiniquaise" and regularly receive awards at international competitions.
"La Martiniquaise" (La Martiniquez) is an international company established in 1934 in France. The founder of the company, Jean-Pierre Kayar, started his activity by importing and distributing rum․ In the mid-1950s, he was able to expand the range of his company by creating a number of enterprises for the production of alcoholic beverages. By 2001, La Martiniquaise had become the second largest consumer of French alcoholic beverages. Its annual turnover is estimated at 460 million euros. The company annually produces about 150 million bottles of alcoholic beverages, a quarter of which are exported to about 110 countries around the world.
