E. Guigal

Etienne Guigal founded his winery in 1946, in the old village Ampuis, which is known around the world today. Son of Etienne Marcel Guigal, began to help his father and work at the winery at a fairly young age, eventually succeeding his older, suddenly blinded father. Marcel invested in the family business not only all his strength, but also his soul. Today, the tradition of the family winemaking is continued by Marcel's son Philippe Gigal, who holds the position of chief enologist in the company. He served as chief enologist of Guigal and has 3 degrees. Speaking about it, Robert Parker said that over the past 20 years has not seen such a winemaker who so fanatically cares about the quality of its wines. His word is not an exaggeration: the current owner of Guigal is a real perfectionist, and this feature helps him to produce a number of truly great wines. Philippe is faithful to the traditions laid down by his grandfather Etienne and withstands wine for a longer period than other manufacturers in Rhone Valley. There are wines that can be stored in oak barrels for up to 42 months. E.Guigal owns truly unique vineyards, the oldest of which was planted in France more than 2400 years ago. Another feature of the gardens is that some of them are located on slopes of 65 degrees, cultivated only by hand. Only ecologically clean means are used to protect the gardens from insects. E.Guigal wines express the whole essence of the terrace of the Rhone Valley.
