The wine has a bright, deep red color. An exquisite bouquet of wine aromas reveals hints of blackberry, plum, and currant, decorated with notes of toasted wood and vanilla. The taste of the wine is full, enveloping, soft and elegant, formed by velvety tannins and juicy acidity. A long, pleasant aftertaste is distinguished by sweetish fruity notes, spice, and oak notes.
The wine pairs well with red meat dishes such as grilled meats, roast lamb or beef, poultry, fried game and cheese.
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature at 28°C.
The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (partly new, partly used).
Vineyards with south and southwest exposure covering 152 hectares are located on hills 200-450 m above sea level. 2 types of soils: marl and limestone-clayey. Average age of vines: 20 years.
The Castle of Castelgiocondo is located in Montalcino, 40 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea. It was built in 1100 to protect the road from Talamone to Siena. The Frescobaldi family acquired it along with extensive vineyards in 1989. Castelgiocondo is one of the first estates where was bottled by Brunello at the end of the last century, and the largest farm in Brunello di Montalcino owns about 152 hectares of 2000 hectares of vineyards for Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.
The Frescobaldi family is one of the oldest and most prestigious winemaking nobles in Italy. The Frescobaldi is originally come from Florence and are currently based in Italy’s №1 winemaking region: Tuscany. Here they own 7 estates, which allows to fully explore all the Tuscany terroirs.
