DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata)
Wine is bright straw yellow with greenish hues. In rich aroma the classic notes of orange blossom are combined with citrus and exotic nuances. On the palate, the fruity and floral hints reappear with pronounced freshness, intensity and a pleasant mineral finish.
Pairs well with all types of fried fish and pasta in white sauce.
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, at temperature of 14-16°C.
Aging in tanks for 2 months and then at least 3 months in bottle before release.
Wine is named after the bewitching siren and principal figure in the novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa: Lighera. The unique label preserves the thousands of shades of Pantelleria Island.
From Italian language, the name of Donnafugata is translated as " fleeing woman". There is a legend about the escape of Queen Maria Carolina, who fled from Naples and found her refuge in a town in the very center of Santa Margherita Belice valley: the same palace under the starry sky. A woman's hair swaying in the wind can also be seen on product labels.Donnafugata was established in Sicily by a family that, thanks to its passion, has been able to innovate the style and perception of Sicilian wine throughout the world. Giacomo Rallo, the fourth generation of a family with over 170 years of experience in quality wine, founded Donnafugata in 1983 together with his wife Gabriella, a pioneer of viticulture in Sicily. Today, their children José and Antonio lead the company and a team of people focused on excellence. Read more
