Altemura "Sasseo" Primitivo Salento 2018

Color is deep and dull ruby red. The bouquet is full, intense aromas reminiscent of plums jam with sweet spicy notes. Wine with considerable body, the palate is enveloping, warm, soft and expresses very ripe fruit, backed by a pleasurable backbone of sweet tannins.

Excellent with white and red meats either grilled, ideal with roast lamb and matured cheeses but not marbled cheeses. 

Sasseo is made with grapes from selected vineyards (40 ha). The grapes are harvested in the first week of September, with some of the berries having over-ripened on the vine. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at an average temperature of 26°C. 

The wines ages for 12 months in big Slavonian oak casks․

The word Sasseo comes from Italian "stone". A name associated with the abundance of information in the soil of a given region, which creates unique conditions for high-quality vineyards.
