Beronia

Beronia is an award-winning winery which is located in La Rioja, Spain. It was founded in 1973 by a group of business friends from the Basque Country who came to La Rioja for a vacation. As friends loved wine and food they created their own gastronomic club or as the locals say, ‘’txoko’’. To enjoy the local cuisine, they decided to make their own wine focusing on Reserva and Gran Reserva production of wines. The name of the company is related to the history of the La Rioja Alta region of Spain, where the Celtic tribe Berones lived in the 3rd century. Eighty-five percent of Beronia vineyards are occupied by the magnificent Tempranillo vineyards, while the other 15 percent include Graciano, Mazuelo, Garnacha Viura grapes. The winery is surrounded by 25 hectares of its own vineyards. Beronia's technical team manages an additional 870 hectares of specially selected vineyards, located no more than 10 km from the winery. Simultaneous aging in two types of barrels made of American and French oak allows to get a unique style. In 1982, Beronia Wines joined Gonzalez Byass and brought Beronia wines to the international market. Today, Beronia is one of the 10 best wineries in Spain due to the support of the Gonzalez family, it combines Rioja's winemaking traditions and advanced technologies in its wines.
